10 Things I Learned From My Wedding: A Photographer’s Perspective
Being a photographer, here are the 10 things I want to share with you from my own wedding day. Straight to it. Let's get started!
1. Number 1! Let God lead. Start the day with prayer. Whether you are the client or vendor. Ask for strength for the long day ahead and put your confidence in Him. Trust in His divine plans for you. Proverbs 3:5.
2. Time is not your friend. Activities are easier executed on paper than in real-world. As you plan the day, give time margins for every activity.
3. Picking the right vendors on your wedding day will give you more peace than you can imagine. ‘Right’ doesn’t mean expensive. ‘Right’ is quality that best fits your budget.
4. The truth is not everyone who is present at an event genuinely wants to be there. Focus on those who actually came for you and enjoy every single moment.
5. Don’t be surprised if old mates don’t make it to your wedding day. A lot has changed and so has life. People acquire new priorities everyday.
6. Eat something little when you can. Don’t run your day with your partner on empty bellies. Keep up the energy for your guest. Try the snacks at your own wedding if time is not allowing you to sit for your main course meal.
7. Set aside some extra cash for miscellaneous on your wedding day. Don’t handle this personally. Have that arranged with your coordinator or someone you trust to stand in if anything.
8. People actually get tired posing. Posing is like any workout session. It requires control to balance and ease the muscles. Speak to your creative team for guidance.
9. Remember the wedding day is centred around you. Even though a lot is happening, don’t be distracted. Dictate the mood.
10. Finally, your aura! Let your shine control the crowd. The joy you carry lightens up the whole venue. You are the magic. Make it happen.
